Research Projects at GWI

The research departments at GWI conduct applied R&D projects that range from private households to the industrial scale. The main focus areas include investigating the effects of variations in gas quality on industrial processes and gas application technologies in general, integrating renewable energies (e.g.  biogas, hydrogen or ammonia) into existing energy supply structures and end-use applications in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors, ranging from small-scale residential heating appliances to process heating in energy-intensive industries, where the combustion of these fuels is a key technology for decarbonization. Other topics include sector coupling technologies, and combined heat and power in residential and commercial energy supply.

These projects are carried out in collaboration with partners from industry and academia,, as well as with committees, associations, cities, and networks, with the aim of exchanging and leveraging synergies more efficiently. The research findings benefit our member companies, partners, and clients, enhancing their competitiveness both nationally and internationally.
